RBES 2020: What is new/different in the new Residential Building Energy Standard

Vermont's Residential Building Energy Standard is being updated again.  The 2020 RBES will take effect on the 1st of September, 2020. Prepare yourself and your business to be on top of these changes and to implement them.

Presentation descritpion:

The Vermont Residential Building Energy Standard/RBES has been updated and modified for 2020, with mandatory compliance with the new 2020 RBES starting on September 1^st 2020.  This session will cover the fundamental changes to the 2020 RBES from the 2015 version (which are substantial) and go through in detail the Prescriptive Compliance method for meeting the full requirements of the RBES for new construction and additions.  The content will be presented from a builder’s perspective and will define the requirements of the code in a way that can be applied directly to existing industry standard residential construction practice.

The presenter will be Steve Spatz, Residential Energy Consultant and Account Manager with Efficiency Vermont.  Steve is a recovering builder and general contractor who has worked at Efficiency Vermont for the past 5 years focusing on relationships with builders, architects, mechanical contractors, and building suppliers to deepen their understanding and application of building science in their work, and to help make the application and compliance with code a little more palatable for tradespeople to digest.
