2023 Legislative Priorities Virtual Forum

Having a voice in the State House on legislative issues is at the core of our association's mission. 

As we head into the 2023 legislative session, VBRA wants to hear from you on issues that effect your business and the industry in general. 

First, we're soliciting feedback from members. What action would you like to see the legislature take, or not take?  Please send your comments to the contact information below.

Second, we'll hold a Virtual Forum to discuss priorities based on feedback. The meeting will begin with an update and Q&A session on the new Residential Contractor Registry. A  representative from the Office of Professional Regulations will be on hand to answer questions. 

What are your thoughts about workforce development programs, universal subsidized childcare, paid family leave or worker misclassification? How about duplicative water/wastewater permits with the state and local municipalities? Vermont is one of two states that does not have a statute of repose to protect contractors. Is this important to you? 

How about Act 250 or local/municipal zoning regulations? Developers and builders have long felt frustration with local zoning that delays or hinders development where there is already water and sewer infrastructure. We know a bill is being drafted that aims to tackle local bylaws that amount to exclusionary zoning. What would you like to see happen?
